One of the most interesting releases we’ve recently had the opportunity to see and experience firsthand is the new Bell & Ross BR-05 Chrono created in collaboration with S.T. Dupont, a name synonymous with excellence in the world of cigars and luxury accessories. The French Maison is renowned for its iconic lighters, refined writing instruments, leather goods, and cigar accessories, making it a natural partner for a project that celebrates craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The result of this collaboration is a limited edition of just 150 pieces: a chronograph that combines Bell & Ross’ distinctive design language with subtle references to the cigar universe and the unmistakable aesthetic codes of S.T. Dupont.
As mentioned, the watch is based on the BR-05 Chronograph, one of the models we have appreciated most throughout the years. Its signature design remains intact, featuring the collection’s characteristic rounded-square case and integrated bracelet, a combination that has become one of Bell & Ross’ most recognizable identities.
For this special edition, however, the watch adopts a warmer and more sophisticated color palette inspired by the world of fine cigars. Stainless steel is paired with rose gold accents, visible on the case side inserts as well as on the central links of the integrated bracelet, creating an elegant contrast that elevates the sporty nature of the BR-05.
The dial follows the same philosophy. Finished in a rich tobacco-brown shade, it immediately evokes the colors and textures associated with premium cigars. Two darker subdials add depth and visual balance, while the date window is discreetly positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock. The overall result is both refined and distinctive, offering a fresh interpretation of the familiar BR-05 aesthetic.
Completing the package is an additional brown alligator leather strap, allowing the watch to transition effortlessly from a sporty integrated-bracelet look to a more elegant and classic appearance.
More than a watch
What truly makes this collaboration special, however, goes beyond the watch itself. Presentation plays a fundamental role in the experience, and Bell & Ross and S.T. Dupont have gone the extra mile. The watch is delivered inside a stunning Makassar ebony cigar box, a precious wood known for both its beauty and the challenges involved in working with it. The box is decorated with the Bell & Ross and S.T. Dupont logos, celebrating the partnership between the two French houses.
Inside, collectors will also find a beautifully crafted cigar cutter and a matching lighter, both designed to echo the watch’s materials and color scheme. It’s a thoughtful addition that reinforces the connection between the timepiece and the cigar culture that inspired it.
Perhaps the most practical detail is that the presentation box can also be used as a humidor, allowing owners to properly store and preserve their cigars long after the watch has been taken out and put on the wrist.
We came away genuinely impressed by this collaboration. The watch itself is attractive, well executed, and full of character, but it’s the complete experience, from the design details to the remarkable presentation box and accessories, that makes this limited edition stand out. For enthusiasts of fine watchmaking, cigars, or simply beautifully crafted objects, this BR-05 Chrono x S.T. Dupont is a release that’s hard not to appreciate.
