Tiffany is, now more than ever, one of the most wanted names within the watch collecting community, since its signatures on dials significantly increase the appeal of the involved watch. Considering that Tiffany is not recognized as a big name within the watchmakers, they applied a completely different, but not less successful, business strategy. Indeed, Tiffany created joint ventures with high-end Swiss watch manufacturers, marking their dials and selling their watches through Tiffany specific boutiques. On October 21st and 22nd, Monaco Legend Group presents for sale at its auction some remarkable examples of “Tiffany & Co” retailed wristwatches. In case you didn’t get a chance in the late 80s and 90s to walk past 5th Avenue in New York, here below there is a selection of Rolex Daytona and one of the coolest Patek Philippe’s modern creations, a Nautilus ref. 5712/1A, signed with the famous “Tiffany & Co” signature.
Lot n°18: 1992 Rolex Daytona 16520
This Rolex Daytona 16520 is fully realized in stainless steel with Oyster bracelet, screw down pushers and tachymeter graduation up to 400 units per hour on the bezel. It also features a black dial with applied luminous white-gold baton indexes and silvered subsidiary seconds with a principle of tropicalization. Anyway, the meaningful detail of the watch is the prestigious Tiffany & Co signature on the dial, slightly below the “Cosmograph” designation. The box that comes with the watch is indeed the Tiffany’s signed one, with the outer packaging in the iconic light blue of the American jeweler. The lot n°18 is estimated within a range from 80.000 € to 160.000€.
Lot n° 171: 1992 Rolex Daytona 16520
The lot n°171 is another example of Rolex Daytona 16520 made of stainless steel. Built with a larger case and a sapphire-crystal glass, since launched in 1988, this watch had an immediate waiting list at Rolex retailers and today is out of doubt one of the most recognizable examples of the whole horological world. The present watch has a stainless steel case equipped with an Oyster bracelet and white dial. Moreover, with the signature displayed below the “Cosmograph” script, it shows the inverted 6 in the chronograph hour subsidiary dial. It is also enriched with the original Tiffany’s warranty and box. The lot n°171 is estimated within a range from 70.000 € to 140.000€.
Lot n° 154: 1989 Rolex Daytona 16528
With an increased size of the case from 37 to 40 mm, this Rolex Daytona 16528 from 1989 comes equipped with the legendary 4030 caliber, derived from the Zenith El Primero. The 16528 reference represents a truly rare opportunity for the Rolex collectors to acquire a highly attractive example of the first automatic Daytona chronograph. Equipped with an Oyster bracelet in gold, this watch is fitted with a bezel calibrated to 400 units per hour as correct for the period. The champagne dial matches with the rest of the whole watch that is further embellished with signature of the retailer signature Tiffany & Co. The lot n°154 is estimated within a range from 80.000 € to 160.000€.
Lot n° 214: 1991 Rolex Daytona 16528
The lot n°214 shows a further Rolex Daytona 16528, featuring the original Rolex sticker still present on the case back. This particular Daytona, exhibit both the case and Oyster bracelet in yellow gold. About the dial, is it possible to notice the beauty of the black background, extremely sought after by collectors, and the indexes are not the usual ones, with baton shape, but they are made by diamonds. Moreover, at 12 o’clock can be seen the legendary signature “Tiffany & Co”. The lot n°214 is estimated within a range from 90.000 € to 180.000€.
Lot n° 15: 1991 Rolex Daytona 16523
This Rolex Daytona 16523 is the first execution of the Rolex Daytona ever made in two-tone steel and yellow gold. The champagne dial with black subsidiary dials for the chronograph and the applied yellow-gold baton numbers goes very well with the steel-gold binomial. The signature of the American-born retailer Tiffany & Co enhances this Daytona even more. The lot n°15 is estimated within a range from 25.000 € to 50.000€.
Lot N° 164: 2016 Patek Philippe 5712/1A
The Nautilus by Patek Philippe is one of the watches that show the highest hype on the market, it is truly sought-after by collectors. This particular lot shows the reference 5712 entirely made by stainless steel and its importance is enhanced by the fact that between 5 and 6 o’clock of the ocean blue dial with grooves there is the signature of the retailer Tiffany & Co. The watch is accompanied by its Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin and iconic Tiffany blue packaging. The lot n°164 is estimated within a range from 100.000 € to 200.000€.
