During the last few days, Watchype Magazine team was in Geneva to attend the Geneva Watch Days 2023 and had the possibility to be hosted as press in the Pop-Up Boutique of the young, but highly successful, Ressence. According to us, it is one of the most interesting brands among the modern watchmaking scene and it can be described by three words: modernity, simplicity and personality. Not so many brands deserve such characteristics.
They welcomed us at the Pop-Up Boutique with a nice surprise, the new Type 3 EE with a soft green dial, or as they prefer to call it, “Eucalyptus Green”. The green dial trend is still going strong, and Ressence’s interpretation is optimal as it makes this watch sportier and more dedicated to outdoor life. In particular, it is the first true coloured dial in the Type 3 collection and it perfectly complements the existing Type 3 with white and black dials.
Apart from the updated colour, the TYPE 3 EE unveils new details also. For instance, the hour display has been visually streamlined, now featuring markers every two hours, while the weekend and oil temperature indicators show new pastel tones. Despite these changes, the legibility of the dial remains unchanged thanks to the fact that, as every Type 3, the dial is submerged by oil, making it as printed on the glass and preventing any kind of reflection that would not allow the time to be seen correctly. On the other hand, there are no changes to the calibre or the way the watch is regulated. Indeed, considering that there are no crowns, the watch is set with the rotation of the case-back.
In the end, the new Ressence Eucalyptus Green TYPE 3 EE will be available from October 2023 at a retail price of CHF 38.200 (excluding taxes) and it features the following characteristics:
- Time indication with the addition of few complications like the, the day of the week (red) and the oil temperature (blue/yellow)
- Ressence Orbital Convex System driven by a customised 2824/2 calibre
- Self-winding
- 36 hours power reserve
- Dial engraved indications filled with green grade A Super-LumiNova®
- 44mm (diameter) and 15mm thick case made by polished grade 5 titanium
- 1 ATM splash-resistance
So, wearing a Ressence watch today for a watch enthusiast means being different from others. The watches designed by the industrial designer Benoît Mintiens, founder of the brand, are the clear and successful example of what a modern watch that wants to establish itself in the industry should be.
